Flotation Reagent Dosing System
Industry Served: Mining
Problem:
A mining operation required a highly accurate flotation reagent dosing system to support its flotation process. The application involved five independent dosing points, each critical to process performance and metallurgical results.
The existing setup was experiencing precision and reliability challenges, making it difficult to maintain consistent reagent addition. Furthermore, the system needed to dose multiple reagents including collector, diesel, and frother into separate tanks, increasing complexity and the need for a well-integrated solution.
Solution:
A skid-mounted flotation reagent dosing system was engineered using Milton Roy metering pumps and Blacoh pulsation dampeners arranged in a 5+0 configuration, providing dedicated, independent control for each dosing point.
The integrated system included:
- Five Milton Roy metering pumps (model MRB11) for accurate, repeatable dosing
- BLACOH SENTRY II 36cu in. pulsation dampener (3/4", 316 stainless steel) to reduce pulsation and stabilize flow, supporting accurate dosing
- Carbon steel skid structure with epoxy coating for durability in a mining environment
- Integrated electrical control panel with individual push-button controls and actuators for each pump
This configuration ensured precise reagent control while maintaining a compact, organized, and serviceable layout.
Result:
The completed dosing system delivered accurate, stable, and reliable reagent injection across all five dosing points.
Key Outcomes
- Improved dosing accuracy for flotation reagents
- Reduced pulsation and more stable flow to each injection point
- Independent control of collector, diesel, and frother dosing
- Increased system reliability and operational confidence
- A compact, skid-mounted solution ready for installation
The result is a robust flotation reagent dosing system designed to support consistent flotation performance and long-term reliability in a demanding mining application.
