APPLICATION:
Denver Industrial Pumps, Inc. moved into their new building in December 2001. The building did not have a pressure reducing valve in the water main and the system pressure in the building was around 90 psi.
PROBLEM:
The owners office is near the mens restroom. Every time that the urinal was flushed, extreme water hammer occurred. This was very aggravating to the owner and he was afraid that the water hammer might cause a pipe to rupture and flood the building.
SOLUTION:
A Blacoh SENTRY II pulsation dampener was installed in the water line in the ceiling directly above the urinal. The dampener acts as a shock absorber in the system and significantly reduces the water hammer effect created by the rapid opening and closing of the valve on the urinal.
RESULT:
Since the Balcoh pulsation dampener has been installed, the water hammer has been eliminated. The owner is now able to concentrate more on the job at hand and carry on phone conversations with his good friend, Don Vise, without any distraction.
